E-mail Print PDF

First it was the last launch, and landing, of NASA’s space shuttle and now we find out that our other bastion in space, the International Space Station will come to the end of its life in 2020 with the ignoble crashing into an ocean somewhere.

The reason given for sending it into the depth is this way it won’t end up becoming a huge hunk of space debris that could endanger satellites and any future space travel above the earth.

Man mimics the seagull with a robot SmartBird Video]

E-mail Print PDF

It might not seem all that fantastic but the fact s that bird flight is pretty incredible and as for as long as man has looked to the sky and believed he too could fly we have sought to mimic those winged creatures, but with more failures than anything else where the best we can do is to power our way through the air with brute force.

That is until now anyway.

At a recent TED conference in Scotland Germany’s Festo showed the crowd its incredible flying robot seagull that truly mimics

The other night I was chilling and watching some television when a thought came to me about how much longer it would be before we could start using our smartphones for things like checking your diabetes levels. For all I know you can already, I just haven’t seen anything along those lines, unlike the heart monitor type kits you can get now.

The today I spotted this post over at the

Cute Dog Picture

Dr. Loretta Mayer hopes to end the practice of spaying female dogs and she may be able to achieve that goal thanks to information that has been learned through menopause studies and field testing mice.

African Lion

A recent study has revealed that African Lions are more likely to attack people during a moonless night or immediately proceeding a full moon. The study, which examined 500 lion attacks on Tanzanian villagers over the last two decades has found that a vast majority of cases occurred from dusk through 10pm on nights with a waning moonlight.

Typically lions will not hunt on bright nights which explains their need to feed after a full moon.

A lion expert told the

Heroin addiction There’s a vaccine for that Video]

If this does actually pan out it could be the best thing to happen in a long time when it comes to dealing with heroin addiction, which has returned to being in vogue in recent years.

When it comes to trying to deal with heroin addiction in this fashion the problem has always been the way that the drug breaks down in the human body. It is that breakdown that is what actually gets people high but it means that a targeted approach won’t work.

Which is why these researches attacked the problem from

Super-weeds that can grow three-inches a day thanks to Monsanto

E-mail Print PDF

Yes folks, the company that brought you genetically modified seed crops and whose lawyers would make Apple tremble has outdone itself.

Weeds are a common problem, we all hate them and suffer through the yearly joy of cleaning them out of our gardens and lawns. As much a pain in the ass as they might be it is nothing compared to what is coming all thanks to Monsanto and its so-called miraculous weed-killer, Round-up.

It seems that the people who study weeds, and yes there are such people, have made a

Bicker, bicker.

China and Nepal are in a bit of a huff with each other over the height of Mount Everest, in a debate fraught with Freudian insinuations.
